Revolutionary Road is a tragic drama that compels you to confront your own fears and illusions. Thematically, the fears and illusions are inscribed in the images of dense woods (fears) and perfectly organized homes (illusions). Mentally dehydrating and emotionally confounding, Revolutionary Road is an introspection of your own roads— your dreams (future) and failures (past). Like the two characters brilliantly portrayed by Winslet and DiCaprio, the viewer is left to ponder the yearning of living the life he wants against convenience, complaisance and expectations. But it offers correspondingly a sad brutal reality that there are dreams that will never be realized: with all its intricacies and nuances, life is much more complex to be confined to your heart’s desires. Beautifully executed, this is one hell of a movie I wouldn't mind sitting through again.
